Why should I pee after sex?

Think about it: When you’re having sex, a lot of stuff gets, uh, smothered around in and out of your vagina--maybe some lube or semen or other secretions. Peeing after sex is a way of flushing any of that gunk (technical term, obviously) out of your urethra. If you don’t, there’s a good chance you’ll get an infection, which, as anyone who’s had a UTI will tell you, it is no fun. (And if you’re a person with a penis? You should be doing this too!) This all totally applies for anal sex, as well.

On a related note, if you’re having penetrative sex and get the urge to pee--do not resist it! The mood will survive you calling “time” for a quick pee break. It’s important not to hold in pee, because it contains a high concentration of bacteria that are just a UTI waiting to happen.
